Albachem WATER-BASED SCREEN OPENER Works on all water-based inks Fast Acting Opens Clogged Screens Leaves No Film AlbaChem 1632 safely opens clogged screen of dried in water based inks. The foaming cleaner works fast without leaving any film or oily residue. AlbaChem water based Screen Opener may also be used to clean ink and dirt from printing presses. No. 1632 Net Wt. 19 oz. (539 grams
Use this at the first sign of misprints due to clogging.  As ink dries or begins to thicken in the screen, the ink will begin to plug the mesh openings.  It will create a block and not allow the free passing of ink thru the stencil.  The printed results will have missing serifs on fine text, or will have larger gaps in the edges of the print.  Thickening ink will also create more tack and the mesh will begin to stick to the substrate being printed.
Stop the press after a full print stroke and before doing a flood stroke.  All liquid ink must be clear of image area.  Spray a fine mist onto a lint-free wiper or clean 100% cotton rag.  Gently wipe the bottom of the screen (substrate side) until you see the clogged areas clear.  Fold wiper/rag several times to prevent smearing of ink residue.  Repeat as needed.  DO NOT OVERSATURATE the wiper, otherwise you will force Screen Opener up thru the mesh.  This will create a smeared print upon the next print cycle.  If some spray flows to squeegee side of screen, blot with dry clean wiper.
